Pixelnicks’ Eagle Island is an award-winning roguelite action-platformer built around a unique falconry combat mechanic, procedurally generated dungeons, and a beautifully modernized pixel art aesthetic. Sickhead Games handled the Nintendo Switch port, bringing Quill and his loyal owl Koji to handhelds. The game later received the expanded Eagle Island Twist update, adding new characters, handcrafted retro-themed minigames, and additional content. Eagle Island is exactly the kind of indie gem that deserves to reach the widest possible audience, and getting it running smoothly on Switch while preserving its tight, responsive platforming feel was a challenge we were glad to take on.
