When Pixelnicks expanded Eagle Island with the Twist update, the game grew beyond its original Switch and PC footprint to land on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for the first time. Sickhead Games handled the console work, bringing both the original roguelite campaign and the new Twist mode to players on Sony and Microsoft platforms. Where the base game throws you into procedurally generated dungeons as Quill and his owl Koji, Twist adds a second full campaign. New character Fia, a kookaburra companion, and 45 handcrafted retro-styled stages that play more like a classic platformer than a roguelite. Two distinct gameplay modes, two different structural approaches, all needing to feel right on a controller. That’s the kind of meaty, well-crafted indie project that’s a pleasure to bring to new audiences.
