Grandia HD Collection is a remastered compilation of two beloved JRPGs, developed by Game Arts and published by GungHo Online Entertainment. The games are known for their innovative turn-based timeline combat system and are considered landmarks of the late-90s RPG era. Sickhead’s work here went well beyond a straightforward port, this was a full remaster. HD resolution, new widescreen support, and dual audio for both games, building off the previously released Grandia II Anniversary Edition PC port, while remastering the original Grandia for the very first time. Sickhead used the PlayStation codebase but worked to bring performance in line with the Saturn release. Additional remastering work included sprite upscaling, widescreen FMV cutscenes, and enhanced text rendering across both titles. The collection launched on Switch and PC in 2019, then on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in March 2024.
