Tamashika is a fast-paced, arcade-style corridor shooter from developer Quicktequila and publisher EDGLRD. The game drops players into a psychedelic first-person gauntlet with hand-drawn animations, a procedurally generated daily level, and a design philosophy built entirely around flow state and moment-to-moment precision. There’s one gun, one blade, and no margin for error.
Sickhead handled the ports to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, all launching simultaneously alongside the PC release. A simultaneous day-one launch across three distinct console platforms means three separate certification pipelines, three different input and performance targets, and zero room for staggered fixes. Tamashika’s particular demands make that even sharper: the game’s identity lives in its responsiveness. The psychedelic visual style, heavy on hand-drawn animation and constant motion, pushes rendering in ways that a more conventional shooter wouldn’t, and the daily procedural level means the experience has to run clean and consistent every single day across every platform. Getting that right simultaneously on hardware as different as the Switch and the PS5 is exactly the kind of work that doesn’t show… until it doesn’t happen.
