Wildfire is a 2D stealth platformer from Australian studio Sneaky Bastards, funded through Kickstarter and published by Humble Games. You play a character branded a witch in a superstitious world, using elemental powers to start fires, freeze water, and move earth to outsmart enemies and rescue captive villagers. What sets Wildfire apart isn’t the stealth itself, it’s the reactive environment. Fire spreads. Ice blocks movement. Earth shifts underfoot. Every level is a dynamic system, not a static puzzle. Sickhead handled the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch ports, launching all three simultaneously about six months after the PC release. Coordinating a three-platform simultaneous console launch means running three certification pipelines in parallel, but the deeper challenge here was the game’s simulation-heavy design. A fire that spreads dynamically on PC has to spread the same way on constrained console hardware, consistently, deterministically, and without performance drops that would break the stealth timing the game demands. The controls were also praised as top-notch in reviews, which reflects the care taken in adapting the elemental targeting system to each platform’s input layout. Getting analog aiming to feel right across three different controllers, while keeping the game’s moment-to-moment stealth rhythm intact, is exactly the kind of unglamorous precision work that separates a good port from a bad one.
